According to investopedia “An entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new business, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards. The process of setting up a business is known as entrepreneurship. The entrepreneur is commonly seen as an innovator, a source of new ideas, goods, services, and business/or procedures.”There is something about entrepreneurship. I can tell you this from my own personal experience. The process of creating a firm to realize an idea or dream and help in creating jobs, creating wealth for yourself and, for your shareholders and team, all while contributing to building the economy can be very rewarding and satisfying. There's more to do than just chase a dream. It is perhaps a great way to really follow your heart and do what you truly love! You may not be earning the lavish salaries that some others do - but they're doing what they love and if you are able to get it right, you may as well make it big. As Colonel Sanders said "Your salary is seldom the true measure of your worth." Our tendency toward quick gratification sometimes undermines our best efforts. Don't get me wrong here. There is nothing wrong in looking for a safe and well paying job. Sure, it brings stability and is definitely less risky. But it also makes you a little too comfortable and risk averse. Don’t be afraid to take that risk, work hard and believe in your abilities. As Olympic swimmer, Michael Phelps says “There will be obstacles.There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits.” So, if you want that creative freedom and are amongst the few who like solving problems, taking risks and creating an impact, then entrepreneurship is for you and can be a great career option.
As the world changes and scaling grows more difficult, companies and entrepreneurs have to be agile and willing to adjust. One thing remains true: entrepreneurialism is always changing, but the road to success is not. Successful Entrepreneurs forgo the 5 year plan for 3-month episodes. They focus on solving a niche problem that can tangibly solve their customers' need, better than others have. Entrepreneurship is worth taking the risk for and can indeed change your life for the better. Look around! Had there been no Steve Jobs, you would probably not be seeing the Apple products you are fond of! Had there been no Colonel Sanders, you would not be having your beloved KFC! Had there been no Elon Musk, you would not have had a Tesla! These are just the ones who have made a remarkable impact around the world with their versatility, innovativeness, team building skills, risk taking ability and thinking outside of the box! So what are you waiting for? Shed the baggage, break out of the loops, and pursue a life where you rule. It all starts with you - your drive and motivation to build something you really like! Follow your dreams, give it your best and with the right idea, team, and market coupled with the right timing, you are setting yourself up for success. Be your own hero and pursue your entrepreneurship dreams! There is nothing on this earth that compares to the fulfilment of being your own boss, so why would you grind away for those tiny increments of ‘success’?
